Daring Bakers Fall Sugar Cookies

Hello friends! It is time for another Daring Baker's challenge! I am doing them close together this time because tomorrow we are moving to Oregon, and who knows what my kitchen will look like then? Who even knows where I packed my cake pans??

These cookies were meant to have a Fall theme. I went with...apples! And I was pleased to have a recipe that at least SEEMED easy, what with the old fashioned sugar cookies and all. And it was a blast to work with royal icing and make my own, which I had never done before. Still, while I'm proud of how my decorating came out, just in case, here is a key: they are apples. The white spot on them is supposed to suggest "shininess," by the way. What they really needed were little green leaves! Next time, next time. Except next time I'm doin' pumpkins! How cute would that be?

The September 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Mandy of “What the Fruitcake?!” Mandy challenged everyone to make Decorated Sugar Cookies based on recipes from Peggy Porschen and The Joy of Baking.

Wish us luck in Eugene! And an affordable apartment!
